The powerful combination of award-winning apps and a proven method—YNAB’s Four Rules—has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people by teaching them to get control of their finances, stop stressing, and live the life they want to live. A Proven Method—YNAB’s Four Rules Rule One: Give Every Dollar A Job | Be intentional about what you want your money to do before you spend it. Rule Two: Embrace Your True Expenses | Break up larger, less frequent expenses into smaller, manageable amounts. By saving monthly for insurance premiums, holidays, or car repairs, when the time comes, your money is ready and waiting to do its job. Rule Three: Roll With The Punches | When life changes, so must your budget. Make adjustments and move along. Flexible budgets succeed because they’re guilt-free, realistic, and sustainable. Rule Four: Age Your Money | As you repeat the first three rules, you’ll increase the time between earning a dollar and the moment you need to spend it. When your money is at least a month old, you’ll have finally broken the paycheck to paycheck cycle for good. • Security?? No TouchID

    By bcbeatty
Please turn on Touch ID! This is the only financial app I'm aware of that Doesn't use touch ID and saves you passwords to not only the app, but also to credit cards and bank accounts. It would be a 4 or 5 star app once you implement Touch ID
  • Frustrating

I love the concept. And I was doing this via another program way before ynab. This program just makes it easier. However the direct import is hit or miss. So many times it just disconnects. Right now mine aren’t working? Was told it might take a few weeks to fix. Huh?? And blaming on their direct importer. Do you aren’t doing the importing? It’s a third party? Very confusing as to the process. But left with a useless app right now and I’m paying for the monthly piece? Hmm. Not happy.
  • The Online App is Now Very Rigid

    By JFavia
I was a YNAB fan early on, even owned the standalone application. I loved the ability to sync to my phone and to even keep up two different budgets (household and personal). I was not thrilled when it became an online application with a $45 a year price tag, but I figured I would give it a shot. After a year and a half, I am running into new ways that they want to control my budgeting process and I am done. In the old days, I could choose how to handle a budget category in the red: move funds from another category, charge to available balance or carry to the next month. Now they will carry credits forward, but not debits. Those are automatically charged to available funds. No choice, no workaround. This is a deal breaker for me. They do a great job of helping people in debt or who have tight finances. Neither is true for me so I want more flexibility. For $45 a year, that doesn't seem like too much to ask.
  • Changed my financial world completely

YNAB is levels above the competition. It’s budgeting software and rules completely reshaped the way I view and spend money.
  • Life-changing!

This software and mindset has been so helpful to me. I can't recommend it enough!
  • Continually have to authorize Paypal

    By Gomi Girl
The most frustrating aspect of this app is that I have had to continue to authorize PayPal, in the app, to download transactions. Numerous times I will be asked to log into my account, sometimes being met with the “I’m not a bot” verification, only to be asked to authorize my PayPal account again. This is too much. Otherwise I would give a higher rating.
  • Avoid like plague

    By bdow718
I experienced constant syncing problems. Even worse are the unethical business practices; continue your search elsewhere! Try Mvelopes and MoneyWiz 2. YNAB is great when it works but it rarely works. I spent a lot of time disconnecting/reconnecting accounts due to syncing issues and transactions crossing accounts. After months of frustration I quit (Dec. 2017). Foolishly, I made an attempt to return (March 2018). I went back and forth with customer service and was eventually charged for annual service ($84) without my request or permission. Customer service is pleasant but incompetent, unscrupulous and unable to accept responsibility for blatant wrong doing. I’m thoroughly disgusted.
  • Horrible app compared to the old one

    By TSViper
If you have YNAB 4 stick with that. This one is terrible in comparison.
  • Great app, but you will need a computer

    By cocacoly
The app is great, but it’s a pain that we also need a computer to use some of the functions. I hope someday we can use the app exclusively!
  • Payment options

    By SMOstevenmyers
Apparently, if you set this up through iTunes, you can pay on a monthly basis, but I set it up online and have to pay a year in advance. I’m struggling with money, I can’t afford $83 upfront, but I could definitely do $6.99. Great app, but I don’t I can afford to keep it.
