As a parent of two teenagers we got my circle and yeah it is pretty cool but I DO NOT recommend it. It will definitely affect your relationship with your children and it is really not fair to them. DO NOT get myCircle!!

I am helping to monitor internet usage from a remote location. Each of my two children has a profile, and I can control time limits, and access to various types of media. I have bedtimes set up, and it works well. We can “pause” the internet or force offline-time when desired. For those skeptical, I’d say this augments a parent’s disciplinary toolbox, it does not and was not meant to replace it. It just makes it easier and more of a routine thing. Kids can see their limits and so on from just about any device. Warning: Kindle Fire is not yet supported for the kid’s version of the app (allowing them to see their status). There are ways to put the Google Play store on the Kindle Fires, so look it up if you must, but you may want to stick with Android tablets. That said, I can access status information on directly through the browser on their Chromebox/CHromebooks. So this app works with a device (The Circle) attached to your router and has worked well in a house with Chrome OS, Windows, Android OS and IOS all at once. I recommend it.

I have had the device for about a year and it worked relatively well. Recent updates have caused google drive and google docs to be inaccessible as well as a site our school uses to post assignments to name a few. I notified them a few weeks ago and still no solution. This is not operator error. I changed my 13 year old's setting to adult. Didn't work. I tried to allow certain sites individually. Didn't work. The only way to access the sites is to completely disable the circle device. Do not buy. As to the response below, I spoke to circle before writing this review. None of the issues the developer mentioned were the problem. Not blocking anything (which makes the device useless anyway). Even in adult mode the problem persists. They published a horrible update that ruined the device. Period. Do not buy.

  • Inconsistent tracking of hours

This is the second time in 2 weeks I have had to restart the device including taking everyone off and putting them all back on. I don't know what is going on but I'm beyond frustrated. My daughter has been in the iPad for 2 hours and it is registering 0 hours.

I had to take the "Circle Go" off our devices because it was horrid. Now I think we are going to have to get rid of Circle. It's taking forever to load everything over wifi. I like the parental controls, but it shouldn't take so long to load things, buffer videos, etc.

I am a parent of a teenager who spends entirely too much time on her devices. I've tried other apps like kidslox (which was good but not great. Circle is really easy to install and can give time limits to each app and or each category. It is a nice tool for parents to use. The MyCircle app also gives kids an app in which to monitor themselves. I have only 2 complaints. 1) the monthly subscription of $5 beyond the $90 for the device and 2) for devices like the computer it only monitors the computer as a whole not each account on the computer. So if a parent wants to use the computer they would be using the 'allotted' time given to the teenager. True you can just change it to 'uncategorized' then change it back but that is not a smooth transition. There are several areas which the company promises to improve but for my needs it works really well. I do recommend this device/app for any parent that takes an active role in their child's online life. This is in no way a parental replacement. Don't listen to the naysayers of this device/app. It is well worth the price although I would like to see a lower per month rate.

We've used a number of different apps and filters over the years and this is by far the best. Easy to install and maintain. Great app. I can't recommend it enough.

With good intensions I installed this program to limit screen time from my two kids. All was well for the first week then bit by bit issues popped up. Switched permission to "Allowed" and Youtube won't work on son's iPad. "Pause" button works for my son's devices but not my daugthers. Daughter's devices suddenly doesn't recording any time whatsoever and now can spend hours on the internet (obviously her devices are not connected but show that they are). "Rewards" feature doesn't work on my son's iPad. I've re-booted both circle and the network several times, cleared cache on devices, deleted devices from the network and added them again, deleted profiles and added them again.... I've wasted more time troubleshooting than enjoying a smooth running network management system. I'm so dissappointed and won't recommend this to another parent.
