  • Lots of Ads... Some News

    Borrow from the Washington Post’s outstanding app. I want the newspaper in a digital format just like the Post. I don’t feel like I’m getting all the New York Times has to offer. An ad every three to five paragraphs makes the app terribly tacky. I might as well surf the web for click bait articles. Please improve he app to be consistent with the high-quality reporting the Times is known for.
  • Ads with paid digital subscription

    Is this new? I’m getting multiple ads within one article. They are google sponsored ads through the app. Is that the norm?
  • Does not open

    I tried deleting and reinstalling the app because it stopped opening. Now it will not reinstall. It had worked fine until a week or two ago. Since then it would just hang with a blank page when I tried to open it.
  • Very laggy now

    The latest version is very laggy. I hit the Back link and it literally takes five seconds to respond sometimes. I think it is getting new data from the server but this just feels wrong in an iOS app. Take me back, then refresh.
  • Cancelling is intentionally difficult

    The app is beyond sub par. Frequent crashes, poor iPhone X optimization’s, and a VERY concerning privacy policy all leave what should be a stellar service for a world class news paper down in the dumps. While subscribing is very easy, cancelling is exceptionally difficult. Requires a call to NYT and they put you through the ringer. Have attempted twice and been disconnected (mysteriously) twice. WaPo is a much better way to go in my opinion. Better content, easier access. I have genuine concerns about the future of the NYT. With the resources of a major paper it seems to have the customer service of a big box store.
  • Going backwards

    The older app was great not sure why someone felt the need to “fix” it. This new version is amazingly slow slow. Takes forever to load and additionally it seems to have lost some features. For example when on my iPad if I swipe to the left column where the other departments are hidden, on the old version I would be able to read the articles off line. On the “new and improved “ version, no you can’t; one has to be online. So I’ll keep using the old version u til it no longer works then I will cancel my subscription.
  • Fewer ads and some simple fixes would help

    I agree with those who are concerned with so many ads on a paid subscription also, why the @*&$#&&$ do I have to sign in after 10 articles each month and they send me an email link to the paper daily?!?, when they know I have a subscription. How a out just adjusting so those with subscriptions just can continue reading?! You KNOWwho has subscriptions and who doesn’t!

  • 8 ads per each article. C’mon!!!

    I just subscribed again today to The NY Times because I thought I was getting a good deal with the offer I got. I was wrong. I should be the one charging The NY Times for forcing me view their 8 ads per article, yes 8 ads per article. I’m sure, a smart lawyer could find a way to stop this, because, what I’m saying is true, The NY Times is forcing us to view their ads, and I know forcing is never a nice word in court. While Pandora. ( Radio ) and the likes give you something (a few skips) for listening or viewing an ad, the NY Times charges you to view their ads. Facebook, google, you tube, etc provide you a service and well, ok, we have to put up with their ads, but for the NY Times “service” we pay. Unless The NY Times do something about their abusive behavior, I proposed we show them that we deserve respect and cancel our subscriptions. It is just not fair to be forced to view 8 ads per article. I hope they have the “balls”/“ovaries” to respond to my review.
  • Please fix your gesture detection

    My scroll is mistaken for a tap on an ad at least twice every time I read an article. Incredibly disruptive especially since the ad launches the App Store.
