App Reviews

  • Be careful about them - A VERY SHADY Company.

    • UPDATED REVIEW • Update: UG responded to my review the same way I've noted they do to ALL critical, honest reviews. Here’s UG’s inaccurate and misleading reply; You are describing the Tabs&Chords app for iPhone, but leaving a bad review to completely different cross-platform Tab Pro app. Both apps existed for several years by the way. Having been an iPhone owner since the first day the iPhone One was made available for sale on the United States, I know the difference between your Apps. I have nearly eleven consecutive years of iPhone use; so allow me educate you, I was using an iPhone before the App Store (as you know it today) even existed. Third-party Developers like UG came into the picture much later. And now that I think of it, you ought to be thanking me instead of mistakenly attempting to correct me. You see, I was one of the people asked to give my opinion in regard to the question; ‘should Apple allow Developers to submit and market third-party apps in the App Store’? I voted ‘yes’ as I would if given the opportunity again today. Just because your company has proven it lacks proper business ethics, does not mean other Developers should be categorized as such. If you’d care to take this public, I would more than welcome the opportunity as I STILL have more than enough records to bury your futile response. My App Store purchase history clearly shows two different Tab Pro Apps were released on two separate dates. And I OWNED both until one just disappeared. Furthermore, the facts I state have been corroborated by your own employees on several occasions AND I have the full threads of our email conversations. I think Apple should give us a chance! Then they should sever all ties with whoever is judged to be at fault. I’d expose Ultimate Guitar’s business practices, culture and mindset for all to see - and you’d never be the same. Your founder could return to writing his little blog or as you’d say, his “hamster”. Da, comrade?! MY ORIGINAL REVIEW Here’s my UG experience: UG came out with Tab Pro as an app. I downloaded it and made all of the in app purchases. NOW THIS PURCHASE INCLUDED the ability to access Tab Pro online using for my notebook, desktop etc. - not just my iOS device. Someone must’ve miscalculated or just gotten greedy - because about a week or two later they completely scrapped that app and came out with a new Tab Pro. However this DID NOT ALLOW me to access Tab Pro in any way shape or form other than the app itself. • I contacted the company told them my issue and got no help. • I contacted iTunes told them about my issue and got no help. Why? Because Apple gets a portion of the proceeds every time ultimate guitar sales one of their apps to somebody else. DON’T GET BURNED!!
  • I’ve paid for a “lifetime subscription” twice!

Long story short, yes the app is good but my proof of membership keeps getting lost in the wind. I paid for the “lifetime subscription” on the android then switched over to the iPhone. Even though I provided all my information they said I had to buy the “full membership” again. I said no problem, it’s a good app. Few years down the road there’s this new update and I’m back to trial version. Seems like, for me anyways, there is no “lifetime subscription”, you will have to keep paying.

An excellent tool to synthesize complex music so that the learner can master core elements quickly. It is a trill like no other to be able to feel yourself appropriate the melodies of songs that would never be playable otherwise. Love this app!
  • Not free. Requires subscription.

Looks like a great app, but requires subscription to get any value. Can’t download and simply try out a few songs without signing up for a subscription (though there is a free trial subscription).
  • Not at all what I’ve expected

Unfortunately I this app is limited and waste of money, you look for titles that are available in the web but don’t show up in the app!! Waste of time and money

This app from first glance looks amazing. It has a wide variety of songs with music and tabs accompanying the songs. The horrible part is that you need to get the pro version to get any good song. If you want to play any popular song (the reason you would download the app) you have to get the $9.99 version. I couldn’t find a single song that I wanted to play that I could play. Completely unusable without paying.

Horrible. Already upgraded, but it doesn't have any idea, keeps wanting me to upgrade, won't allow access to tabs unless I sign for "trial offer" or subscribe. Also, how stupid does Ultimate Guitar have to be to create two Completely different apps with the same icon and virtually the same name?Tab and Tab Pro are two completely different apps according to their FAQ. Have to be bought and subscribed to individually, yet same icon, same name, same app company. I should be playing guitar right now along with the app, but no, can't get it to work after paying close to $30...
