  • Could be great... but still lacking

    By Sam941bklyn
I have tried to love ToDoist and make it the only productivity/task tracking app I’d ever want, but the truth is that I’m still looking. I’m a paid subscriber because I need push notifications. For some reason, though, the folks at ToDoist still don’t have everything straightened out. Syncing is painfully off consistently. I used the Windows desktop app at work and then swap to my iPhone for personal tasks away from the computer. If I do anything with a task on a separate device, background syncing almost never works, especially desktop to phone. I have background app refresh enabled but ToDoist will flash task reminders on my phone for items I’ve checked off from my computer. Plus, the UX/UI is different across all devices... even from my work Windows 10 laptop to my MacBook Air! I’m not just talking shortcuts, I’m talking about buttons for filtering, editing and ordering tasks. Why isn’t this consistent across devices? And added on further is the time it takes to edit or even delete tasks. Deleting a task is just too many steps. The main thing that keeps me coming back is the native language input, which can be a huge time saver. If ToDoist didn’t have this, then the app wouldn’t be worth paying for at all.
  • Almost amazing...

tl;dr - can’t use Siri on Watch - no dark mode / night theme - force touch icon to quickly add tasks isn’t quick ——— ToDoist is the beat task management app I’ve used in a long while (and I spend a lot of time reviewing productivity apps, launch center pro, workflow, fantastical etc). HOWEVER It’s rough around the edges. They have this wonderful English language recognition and the only place it works is in the quick add when you’re already looking at a list - not the new task button or, infuriatingly, the icon’s force touch menu. If you force touch the icon and choose add task one expects to get a quick add, after all that’s why you didn’t just open the app right? But no, you get the default create screen that requires you to tap into each field, date, project, label, etc to set that info, which is tedious and forever taking when compared to just writing “ToDoist update force touch action p1 tomorrow #thingsQCshouldhavefound” See, isn’t that easier? Get on it ToDoist - you’re a leader in GTD, act like my time and taps have worth eh? ToDoist also doesn’t support night mode. Which is weird because it’s not like it’s an intensely graphical app, just make a dark style guide, there are a dozen for the web app via grease money or stylish. Come on. Finally, while they’re very proud of Siri integration (and it’s just ok on iPhone) there is STILL no support for Apple Watch. It just tells you to open your phone - which is useless and frustrating. Why even register it with Siri on the watch if all it can do is tell me off?
  • Garbage

    By Airgutter87
I paid for the premium strictly for the SMS notifications feature, and it doesn’t work. The test message works, but not the actual ones. Very such a touted feature and they label it as “never forget/worry-free” this is just unacceptable — especially for such a high price. Their support is non-existent, too... Any.Do is better
  • Great App, Terrible Version

    By omri_12
I love Todoist! I've been using it every day for almost two years. So my issue is not with the app itself. I love it! However, this and the previous version have had major glitches! This version doesn't sync with my MacBook app and so I have to choose one device to work from. No bueno.
  • Great app, but REALLY needs sorting!

    By peripatew
A solid app, but missing some features present in other versions (Android App has sorting).
  • Critical Flaw

    By SmityMcFly
Decent app, but it’s pretty ridiculous that being able to set reminders is a paid feature. I can just use the iOS reminders app for that, making this close to useless.
  • Repeating Alarms?

    By Nsmith2994
Would really appreciate having repeating alarms for certain tasks. I love the app!
  • Favorite To-Do App

    Simple and clean.
  • Very happy with product but two simple requests

    By Symone08
I'm a premium member and I'm very pleased with the addition with deep integration with google calendar. I get a strong grasp of my day to day with this feature alone. My previous first love was todo.txt so my style heavily revolves around using the labels to separate my tasks and projects. Two things I would love implemented: 1. Add task widget similar to the android app. I don't actually have to open the app and fiddle with the menus making the experience easier. This makes the inboxing process less tedious and brings me to ease, especially with how easy it is to add labels and hash tags. 2. Make it easy to add subtasks under individual tasks through the menu possibly instead of having to rely on drag and drop, especially if your inbox is huge. I know you have a separate projects menu, but completed tasks don't stick around the same. I see huge potential in this for outlining purposes and because I already separate using labels it's basically double work. These two things though simple would exponentially improve what's already been a wonderful experience. Thank you for making cloud computing easier for me and continue the good work.
  • Terrible UI/30-day money-back guarantee not valid

    By TerryB.
I was switching from a Mac to a PC and looking for a replacement to the many wonderful apps for the former. This was suggested in an article so I tried it out, figuring as they offered a 30-day money back guarantee, I had nothing to lose. The app is terrible if you manage more than a grocery list. I'm unable to check off tasks from the desktop app. Sub-projects rearrange themselves and sync lags. I requested the refund within 2 days (never done this before for an app) and was told it's not valid if purchased through App Store. I'm not sure what other places I could have purchased an iOS app. Todoist hasn't responded to inquiries about tech problems so I'm stuck with something that doesn't work. If you ONLY need an app on your phone and only have a few tasks to remember, there are plenty of apps that cost less than $30.
