  • You Still Have to Put the Effort In

I went with the 8 month program for $160. It was far less money than I had been paying for my weekly nutritionist visits. The free trial was amazing and I was so excited by it, but once the 2 weeks was up the format changed and I found it hard to adapt to the new style. Once I got the hang of the new style, I realized the app still works really well. While my group has been "switched" a few times, my group coach and 1:1 coach have always stayed the same (barring vacations). I think what really happens with the groups is that as people drop off the app bc they cancel the service, the groups are combined so they don't get too small. My 1:1 coach is great; he messages me at least once a week, even if I don't respond (I'm not a perfect Noomer, lol) and more if I message him with questions. All of this said, Noom only works if you make it work. You have to log your food and your exercise and put in the effort to be healthier for the program to work, just like any other program. Once I started realizing that, it was practically smooth sailing. I've never had any app support issues- technologically speaking- the app has always worked for me. My only real complaint- I wish it had a water tracker. In short: yes- the format changes after your free trial, and yes- your group will be updated a few times and combined with other groups, but as long as you are willing to do the work, the program works as intended. I've been using it (mostly) steadily for 3 months and I can honestly say that as long as I was doing my part, I consistently lost weight- 16 lbs to date. (Disclaimer, it would have been more, but again, not a perfect Noomer, lol).
  • Maybe it works for you not for me

Here's my warning, 1. you do not get your money back, read the fine print. No one has gotten back to me still, it's been a couple weeks. 2. After the first two weeks you will get lumped into a much larger group. The coaches are nice but there's no way they can make that many people feel included. It's really difficult to keep so many people at the same pace, it would be nice if they could group certain people together based on their focus. Don't think that's happened. :/ what a waste of 120 bucks
  • Total and utter ripoff --impossible to get a refund

I signed up for the trial but cancelled immediately. Apparently, Noom Inc. has no record of this. They have been charging my credit card for 5 months and refuse to issue a cancellation. This is crappy customer service and deceptive. Don't download this app.

I use the subscription version of this app and really love it. I'm four weeks into the 16-week coaching program and have lost 7 pounds. I like the accountability without going to sit in a room every week with a bunch of strangers. I get the one-on-one attention I need along with group support when I want it, within the digital realm of course. The database of foods is impressive, and it's easy to add something that may be missing. The daily articles are short and useful. I hope there's an iPad version soon.
  • Inconsistently designed frustrating app

The power of the Noom program is not the app. It has very inconsistent design. How you back out of any page varies by where you are, and sometimes there's simply no escape except to close the app & start again. Also email requests for support on the app are simply never answered. So know going in it's a crappy app and the power of the program is the support, articles, group and coach involvement, psychology, etc.
  • Be sure to read the second half of my review

**Hang in here or skip ahead to the BUT**: The good: I absolutely fell in love with Noom, to the point of paying $60/mo. for it when I don't even have enough money to fill my car with gas. Yes, irrational, but that's how falling in love is. The program is working! I'm not only losing more weight than I ever have-- and more easily than I ever have-- the tools I'm learning are changing my whole life. I'm dead serious. In less than a month I've been instilled with confidence and hope. BUT. BUT-- after the third week, the format of the program changed DRASTICALLY. Now the program isn't giving me tools to change my life. It consists of just reading a couple of articles a day. At this point the most I'd be willing to pay is $1.99-- total-- to continue to use their food logging tool. If that. Unless the format changes back, I will not renew another month and would strongly discourage anyone from signing up. Get yourself a magazine subscription to anything that runs a health or weight loss article or two, use one of the many free fitness/weight loss apps, and you're saving yourself $60/month. I'm considering quitting, then starting over again. The first three weeks are life-changing, empowering, inspiring, effective, exciting, fun, and something I look(ed) forward to each day.
  • Don't purchase

I impulsively did the free trial sign up then decided it wasn't for me. I couldn't find a way to cancel and figured maybe I hadn't completed the sign up process-I never really used the program. lo and behold a $159 charge hits my credit card. Regardless of the value of their program, this is unethical and a scam.

This app steals your money. There is no easy way to cancel. Following their cancellation instructions do not work. Several people are talking about filing a class action lawsuit.
