Tired of boring textbooks? FluentU brings language learning to life with real-world videos! You created something unique and new!" - Felix Wedel "It is more helpful than any other tool I've used. I had been using podcasts before and trying to make flashcards, and that worked pretty well. But, it ended up that I was spending more time making the flashcards than studying. FluentU really solves this." - David Brown "FluentU has quickly become one of my favorite language-learning tools. Great job on an aesthetically pleasing app and an incredibly functional one." - Justin Price "This concept in FluentU is amazing. It's such a great way to help you understand a spoken language and the way you break it down is amazing." - Demi Pradolin "This app is so fun and useful - the best Chinese language learning app I've ever used." - Richard Jun Learn a language with music videos, movie trailers, news, and inspiring talks. App Reviews

  • Excellent, just need more Chinese content!

I teach Chinese to high schoolers, and this is the BEST tool I've found to bring interesting, manageable, authentic content to my students on a regular basis. My only complaint is that for a monthly subscription service I expect them to come out with more content regularly, and lately it seems like Chinese isn't getting the love that some of the other languages get.
  • For the intermediate good not great

So I've had this app for about seven days. I don't regret buying it but I think it may be better suited for a beginner intermediate. There is some content for intermediates actually quite a bit of videos and quizzes. However that's all there is.also it's one Achilles' heel is that it doesn't force you to speak which is critical in learning a language

Great app- combo of flash cards and audio-they take a lot of different approaches to memorization--spelling, arranging words, audio.
  • Great app. Highly recommended

Very easy to use. Effectively designed to build on learning a language in a way you'll remember and put into practice. Daily lessons are simple but not overpowering. Only language app I've used so far that kept me motivated to continue learning more.
  • No Russian content on app

I bought a membership with fluentu recently and have enjoyed using it on my computer. However, one of the main draws to the membership was the ease of watching these videos on my phone, but it seems to have no content in the browse section for the new languages that you have added. Please fix this.

This app blows past Rosetta Stone. Well worth the price.

Um... the new hint option just gives you the answer. That's not a hint, that's cheating. I'd like to turn it off cuz avoiding it slows me down. Anyway, this is pretty good for learning vocabulary and grammar. Of course you need practice with real people to achieve real-time speaking and understanding, and for Japanese you definitely need another kanji app to learn reading and writing, but it was helpful for me on the side.
  • Awesome content and system, clunky app and organization.

The title says it all. The program is kinda sluggish, the video playback is difficult to navigate, and there's really no organization of content other than basics/intermediate/advanced. But it really is a super awesome way to learn the language, I wish there were more by the way of pop culture videos to really get a feel for the slang, also some sort of "adult section" where they teach you the curse words- it's embarrassing to accidentally say a swear without knowing it, so this would be useful; and knowing what is taboo is vital to understanding any culture/language.
