Office Lens App Description

Office Lens trims, enhances and makes pictures of whiteboards and documents readable. Office Lens can convert images to editable Word and PowerPoint files too. Office Lens is like having a scanner in your pocket. Like magic, it will digitize notes on whiteboards or blackboards. Always find important documents or business cards. Sketch your ideas and snap a picture for later. Don't lose receipts or stray sticky notes again! Scenarios: - Capture and crop a picture of a whiteboard or blackboard and share your meeting notes with co-workers. - Make digital copies of your printed documents, business cards or posters and trim them precisely. - Printed and handwritten text will be automatically recognized (using OCR), so you can search for words in images and then copy and edit them. Features: - With Whiteboard mode, Office Lens trims and cleans up glare and shadows. - With Document mode, Office Lens trims and colors images perfectly. - Pictures can be saved to OneNote, OneDrive or other cloud storage. - Business Card mode can extract contact information and save it into your address book and OneNote. This feature works best with the following business cards: English, German, Spanish and Simplified Chinese. Support for more languages is coming soon. - Choose to convert images to Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) or PDF (.pdf) files that are automatically saved to OneDrive.

  • Can’t save to OneDrive

This was a great app. Now I can’t save any files into my OneDrive. Either it ask me to login, or it can display my OneDrive and but files never saved. Microsoft, please fix your bugs before adding features!
  • Impressive capture

I'm bothered by the new Microsoft policy of snooping on user content and reserving the right to block and delete users who violate their policies against things like foul language, possibly the most evil thing this longtime bad actor has done to date. But for a company famous for clunky software, this app stands out for simple effectiveness.

Almost all the previous flaws have been accounted for. I'm so glad. This is back to being my go to scanner app.
  • Pushes you to use office 365

My initial used was not favorable Can't save as a PDF or regular document as I want to. It constrains you severely what format she can save it as. If I email it I can't save it also.

  • No longer saves to OneDrive automatically.

The OneDrive (personal account) functionality was broken in one of the latest updates. It’s now required to enter OneDrive account credentials to save/view files. Please fix, before abandoning yet another consumer product. Since I’m now having to essentially sign into OneDrive every time, I’ve stopped using Office Lens and use the scan function in the OneDrive app.
  • Almost perfect

  • 4.5 stars - a MUST have app - almost perfect

    By rogerbix
I use this app regularly, 2 to 3 times a week. It's usually great at making pictorial copies of documents, and I like this app so much, I recommend it to all my friends as a MUST have utility app. Why four stars instead of five? Well, sometimes the border detection is a little bit twitchy - but this is mostly the case when the source doc cannot be made perfectly flat, or is not a perfect rectangular shape, or the color contrast between the doc to photographed, and the background is too low. Where the app will also sometimes have problems is when the page in question has graphic horizontal lines draw on the doc question. Usually if one can throw some additional lighting on source doc, this takes care of it, but one can't always do that. Some improvements I would like to see: – the ability to manually "help" the automated red outline box that outlines the doc - add a "lock" feature where the outline is locked in place (meaning auto sizing and auto positioning turn off, and the outline stays in place as is), and then allow user to manually adjust the size and shape of red outline - before the pic is take. - as if you were cropping pic area beforehand. Why is this needed? See the comment about taking pics of documented with embedded horizontal lines, or try to take a complete single picture of an open notebook. - Renaming! So yes, I have saved a bunch of multipage documents to PDF's on my phone with the Office Lens app, but the file names are "date + time + office lens" -- not very useful when trying to find the particular PDF of internet later on. Bottom line-- this app is so useful, I would be more than happy to pay $5-10 for an upgraded version that has these, and maybe a few other additional features (that other users want).
  • Very good app- where is the web-version

    By hudsonwolf
This app is really great for keeping track of receipts. I love it. Small improvement would be to have the ability to select where the file output goes. Right now I have to manually sort into folders. Also nice would be a web version. I could use my camera on the PC or Mac to take images or run OCR.
